Grant County Deputies were kept busy Sunday morning, searching for the driver of a van that allegedly was driving recklessly, then pointed a handgun at another car, then abandoned his vehicle and lied to officers about the gun's location.

Around 8:15am Deputies responded to call about a man driving a blue van near the intersection of Roads 2 and L Northeast. The caller said the man was driving recklessly, and pointed a gun at their car. The location was about a mile and a half southeast of Moses Lake.

Deputies were able to quickly locate the van, but it had been abandoned. However about 250 yards away they found a man matching the suspect's description walking up the road. Jeffrey L. Regan was detained, he was wearing an empty holster. He first lied about the gun, then admitted he'd hidden it in some weeds not far from the van.

He's now in the Grant County jail on a concealed weapons violation, brandishing or discharging a weapon capable of producing bodily harm, and likely reckless driving.
