Interim Sheriff Jerry Hatcher won a close election over Sgt. Ken Lattin of the Kennewick police department in the August primary, to see who would take over as the leader of Benton County. And, the city council candidates have shaped up for the November General election.

Although another update is expected this week, possibly tomorrow, as of July 27, voter returns in Benton County are rather low.

In the Columbia Basin, we're pretty fortunate. While the streets of Portland are burning and full of 'protesters' as are other areas, we don't have violence and knuckleheads. Even during the height of the Zambrano issue in Pasco, disruptive shocking behavior seen elsewhere was not really found here.  A few peaceful marches, dialogue, etc.

Inspired by the viral Trump Hillary for Prison Bobblehead, a group of Donald Trump supporters grabbed people's attention Friday in Kennewick.

Much of the election attention in Washington state has been focused on minimum wage and other workforce issues, including I-1433, which would raise the minimum wage statewide, and force all businesses to offer paid sick leave, regardless of the number of workers. But there's another measure on the ballot that's going to affect all Washintonians.

The Franklin County Republican Central Committee has released their list of candidates they are officially endorsing for the 2016 local, state and Congressional campaign.

The top two candidates who emerged from the Washington State Primary election both appear to possibly be ready to empty the state's coffers in order to appease the controversial McCleary Supreme Court decision on funding public education.
