The Seattle Mariners today announced that Ichiro Suzuki will be taken off of the club's active 25-man roster and will transition to a position in the front office created for him.
Seattle Mariners Right Fielder, Ichiro Suzuki, has donated 100 million yen (about $1.25 million) to the Japanese Red Cross to assist with the earthquake and tsunami relief efforts, report the Kyodo News Agency.
Ichiro signed with the Seattle Mariners in 2001 and is the second Japanese-born everyday position player in Major League Baseball.
