Best of 2012 April – US Coast Guard To Sink Japanese ‘Ghost Ship’

After monitoring it's progress, and deciding it's just too risky to let it drift, the US Coast Guard has plans to sink a Japanese ghost ship that has "sailed" across the Pacific Ocean after being swept away by last year's tsunami.

The long, voyage of the Ryou-un-Maru has come to an end.  Friday, a US Coast Guard Cutter armed with a cannon opened fire on the derelict vessel and sent her to the bottom of the Pacific.  The ship, which turns out had been designated for scrap in Japan, was swept out to sea by last year's tsunami
