Richland Plans for Kadlec Growth – Hospital Is City’s Largest Employer + No. 4 in Tri-Cities

$140 million went from Kadlec Health Systems to Tri-Cities families last year.

That's up from Kadlec's $30 million payroll just 11 years ago when it employed 740 people. Today it employs about 2,200 people -- the most in Richland's "business district" and the No. 4 largest private employer in the Tri-Cities. That's according to the City of Richland, which is doing everything it can to help Kadlec continue to grow.

Traffic Light Goes Out on Major Washington Highway Friday Morning, State Says They’ll Get to It Monday

A power outage Friday morning in northern Richland knocked out several traffic lights, including the one at the intersection of Aaron Drive and State Route 240. While city crews had all lights repaired by 11 a.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation (WDOT) said everyone was off work and the light would be fixed Monday.

Why Lights Were Out in Richland Friday Morning

Hundreds of residents in Richland and dozens of drivers on George Washington Way were inconvenienced Friday morning by a power outage. Officer David Clark of the Richland Police Department said something damaged power lines near the intersection of GW Way and McMurray Street. That cut power along most of GW Way.

Leslie Grove Park in north Richland had only one tree blow down during the windstorm early Monday morning. Even better news, more than half a dozen bird nests appear to have survived.

Richland’s Bicycle Polo Club Could Use a Few More Participants

I enjoyed some December sunshine on Dec. 24 with my daughter when I noticed four guys doing something truly unique. They were playing polo on bicycles in a playground! When I asked if I could take their picture they tried really hard to get me to join them! They need more participants.

Falling Trees Create Domino Effect at Howard Amon Park in Richland

Check out these felled trees in Howard Amon Park in Richland after the Dec. 17 wind storm. I counted five fallen trees plus at least one seriously damaged. I was surprised to see three trees fallen together like dominos.

Wind Storm Downed 10 Trees at Richland’s John Dam Plaza

The loss of 10 trees, large and small, to this historic heart of the city is catastrophic. And 10 is only the number of felled trees - that doesn't include trees that may be damaged beyond repair. Several of the downed trees are decades old.
