We're not legal experts, but now many are questioning if the State Supreme Court has the legal authority-within the Constitution-to boss the Legislature around.

Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers in Richland, is not sitting down following a Benton County Judge's ruling she broke the state's Consumer Protection Act by refusing to provide flowers and floral services for a same-sex wedding.

In 2012, the Washington State Supreme Court ruled the way the state legislature funded education was "unconstitutional."  This became known as the McCleary Decision. Again this year, the legislature must provide a "progress report" to the Court - it's expected next week.

In what they are calling an effort to protect same-sex marriage civil rights,  Attorney Generals from 14 states have joined to lobby the Supreme Court to hear three marriage equality cases. Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson is one of them.
