Yet another canyon fire in Kennewick, but not Zintel this time

The call came in just before 10 pm on Friday.

Kennewick police and fire crews continue to investigate an early morning fire that charred trees and brush in Zintel Canyon off of 10th in Kennewick. Around 12:48am Saturday morning, the fire was spotted by a passing driver who called 911...

After a public meeting and hearing, Kennewick City officials have announced a multi-step plan they say will not only make Zintel Canyon safer, but also increase access for visitors and hikers. The efforts were largely spurred on because of a series of 9 suspicious fires that broke out in the greenbelt area in South Central Kennewick near 10th ave this year...

Just about everyone who's been in the area for some time has hiked, or been to or through Zintel Canyon, which runs from South Kennewick, underneath 10th and North. Now Kennewick officials are hoping to get input from the public about what could be done to enhance or improve the area, and possibly curb a growing trend of fires and other criminal incidents that occur in the area...

Officials have stopped short of calling them arson related, but admit it's becoming suspicious. Thursday, fire crews responded to another fire in Zintel Canyon in Kennewick, this one burned from near the 2200 block of East Dennis Street...

They can run, and try to hide, but eventually they get caught.
