One minute, you're sitting on the patio enjoying a rare mild February evening, the next...

You're getting dumped on by a mysterious "fluid."  A  couple sitting on their patio in Malverne New York, on Long Island, were suddenly doused by a greenish black fluid that came raining down from the sky last Thursday.   Artie Hughes told 1010 WINS radio he and his wife were soon covered by what they thought was perhaps hydraulic fluid or oil from one of the many planes that fly overhead after taking off from Kennedy airport.  But he then said they, and his porch, table, and bbq, were covered with dozens of nickel and dime-sized "drops."  After calling police, a Port Authority officer said no, it was much nastier than that.  Several phone calls confirmed that indeed a leaky bathroom tank on an airplane had let go an undetermined amount of toilet waste--directly onto their back yard!  The discharge apparently, was confirmed by the FAA, who continue to "look into" what happened.  Airliners can discharge waste at very high altitudes, where it is instantly vaporized and or frozen, and generally pose no threat to humans.

Hughes has not said anything about suing the as yet unnamed airline.  The carrier and specific plane have not been identified or released yet.  He says he just wants an explanation--and probably, a visit by an industrial cleaning company!
