Thursday, the TC Americans fought back from a 2-0 defecit to dump the Spokane Chiefs in Overtime.  Sunday, the Chiefs got to return the favor.

After digging out from an early hole, the TC Americans could not replicate the stirring victory from Thursday.  Spokane came out FLYING Sunday evening, scoring 27 seconds into the contest.  Tri City finally got on the board in the  third period when Tyler Schmidt fired the puck past Spokane netminder James Reid--his second goal in two games.  With Goalie Drew Owsley on the bench for an extra attacker, the Ams Carter Ashton pounded in a rebound with 61 seconds left in regulation to tie it up and give the fans at the Toyota Center free hockey.  But just a couple of minutes in, Blake Gal, coming out of the penalty box, joined a 3-on-2 rush against the Ams net, and he beat the Owl for the game winning goal.  The Ams now must go to Spokane Tuesday, get the win to force game six, then win again Wednesday to take the series.  It's very similar to 2008 when the Ams had to win game six on the road to force game 7 in the Western Conference Finals--the year Spokane would go on to win the Memorial Cup.   Listen in on Newstalk 870 with Craig West, pregame 6:45 Tuesday from Spokane--and streaming right here on the Newstalk Website.
