Fortunately, this 13-year-old had the sense to flee the home, go to a neighbor, and call police.

A 20-year-old Kennewick man is in the Benton County jail after police nabbed him near the scene of a burglary in the 1100 block of West 43rd. Ave. Friday.

Shortly before 3pm, the teen, who'd been home alone, called 911 and reported the burglar had entered his home near West 42nd. and South Kent St.  Police were dispatched, and from the description given, were able to arrest Nicholas Robert Ertel.

He was seen running from the area, and when arrested, police found narcotics, cash and a .380 caliber pistol in his possession. He's facing a variety of charges in connection with the burglary.
