It's a very rewarding experience to coach kids, teach them how to play a sport, and watch them flourish.   But at times, you learn about their organizational skills.

For six years, I've helped coach various Colts teams for the Kennewick Grid Kids Youth Football league.  There's 8 'organizations,'  each with 5 squads - E, D, C, B, and A.  They're for youth ages 7 through 13.  There's Tigers, Bears, Huskies, Coyotes, Rams, Eagles, Panthers and the Colts.    Our five squads practice at Southridge High School.

My son Dhylan spent five years in the Colts, and has since moved onto the freshman team at Kamiakin High School.   I am helping coach the "C" squad this year.    This week at practice , we tried our hand for the first time, at the legendary football activity known as The Fireman Drill.

Watch as the players try to follow directions to build the line down to the water sawhorse, around, and back.  This, and other great videos, can be found on our Newstalk 870 YouTube page.
