Don't be alarmed; it's only a test! Thursday, the DOE will be conducting a test of its Emegency Preparedness System by activating a siren Thursday.

The test will be conducted between 10 and 11 a.m., and the siren will be located between the 100H and 100F Areas. It will probably be able to be heard across the river in the Wahluke Hunting area and other areas on both sides of the river, but no action is necessary.

If it were an actual emergency, numerous sirens would sound and authorities would activate the EAS (Emergency Alert System) on all radio and television stations.

So if you hear the Hanford siren Thursday, remember it's only a test.
