Oregon authorities report a 34-year-old man is in custody after allegedly stealing a remodeled 1930 Ford Model A, taking it for a joyride, then crashing it into the Crooked River South of Prineville OR.

Sunday afternoon, Oregon State Patrol officers were alerted to a report of the stolen vehicle, and got word the car had left the road and was in the river.  Crook County First Responders found Erik Blake Halpin (pictured) near the scene.  He had apparently crashed the car, then swam to shore.

He was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries, and is facing at least four charges stemming from the incident, including DUI.   He is also facing a misdemeanor Failure to Appear warrant out of Klamath County.

Officials did not say what the financial damage to the restored Ford was, but it's estimated to be a extensive.
