Friday, the Americans announced the trade with Vancouver.

Defenseman Josh Thrower, who came to Tri-City  in a trade last year after playing 73 games for the Calgary Hitmen,  will head to the Giants.  The Americans will receive 19-year-old Defenseman Tyler Morrison, whom GM Bob Tory says will work well with the Americans:

“Tyler is a skilled offensive defenseman that will add maturity to our blueline,” Tory said. “We look forward to him joining our club. He will be in the lineup Saturday against Spokane.”

Tory said Thrower had expressed an interest in possibly playing closer to home for personal reasons.  "We are sad to see him go, but it was the right thing to do for Josh," said Tory.

So far this season, Morrison, who hails from North Sherwood, Alberta, has been a mainstay of the GIants,  playing in 153 games, scoring 9 goals and 40 assists - a pretty good number for a defenseman.

Thrower had compiled three assists, and 68 penalty minutes in the 51 games he played for Tri-City.
