This coming Saturday, you can dispose of old unused prescription drugs in Pasco from 10am to 2pm with the Pasco Police Department.

Stop by Walmart in Pasco during those hours, and you can dispose of them safely and securely. Authorities say they can only accept pills and patches, but NOT liquids or needles or other injectible meds.

So check your cabinets for expired, unused or otherwise unwanted prescriptions and dispose them properly.

You might think you can just throw them in the trash, don't.  A surprising number of people sift through the garbage, looking for such medicines...more than you think.

And, Consumer Reports says  a significant number of child overdoses and misuse stems from hanging on to old narcotics especially, such as Percocet, Vicodin, Oxycontin and other pain meds. Don't flush them either, because trace amounts of the drugs can linger in water supplies.
