The charges stem from an altercation March 18th.

According to federal officials, Julian Daryl Simpson is facing First Degree Murder charges, and Victor Joseph Contreras is facing five counts from the fatal shooting.

Officials say Antonio "Tony" Jimenez of Pendleton was fatally shot when he and Beau Welch tried to get members of a rival gang to leave a party they were having at Welch's home on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Jimenez and Welch were both shot when the others refused to go. Welch survived.

The case is being investigated by federal officials, and will be tried in federal court because both victims are members of the Umatilla Indian Tribe, and the shooting occurred on the reservation.
