A pair of stolen 1997 Honda Accords are back in the hands of their owners, but one of the vehicles was rather damaged.

New Years Eve and day, Kennewick police recovered the two cars after a brief chase and apprehended two suspects in one of the vehicles.

On Tuesday, one of the Hondas was seen in the parking lot of the Park Ridge Apartments in the 3500 block of West Hood.  Police tried to contact the driver, who was standing outside the vehicle, but they jumped back inside and sped off.  After a brief chase the driver lost control on Hood and slammed into a parked vehicle.  The driver fled on foot and was not caught.

Then New Years Day,  two suspects were apprehended driving another 1997 Honda when they were spotted near 19th Ave and Highway 395.   The vehicle pulled over in the 2900 block of West 19th., and 32-year-old Brittany Godwin and 22-year-old Casey Mallonee were arrested. They were booked into the Benton County jail on possession of a stolen car.   Police did not say if they were the ones who originally stole the vehicle.
