Earlier this week, we reported two Yakima School District students were arrested in connection with the 'creepy clown' threat that resulted in Highland High School being closed as a precaution earlier this week. Now, Yakima School officials say they don't know who that perpetrator is.

According to KNDU-KNDO-TV,  two students were identified as being associated with social media and other clown activity threats. But Yakima School officials released a statement later this week saying that while 5 students have been disciplined for such activity, they don't know who created the threat to the high school.

The student suspects had been identified by Yakima Police but school officials say they're not the ones who threatened the high school. Here's the statement from the Yakima School District:

"We are disciplining students (and informing police) if they have any posts in their social media accounts, or a made-up account related to the clown scare.  We have issued discipline to 5 YSD students to date for clown scare related social media activity.  We do not know who is responsible for the Highland threat or many threats out there and continue to work with YPD as it relates to our students."

The investigation into what Yakima officials called a 'serious and credible threat' to the school and students continues.
