Klamath County, OR officials say who ever did this is facing serious felony charges.

Oregon election officials say the 240 votes found in a dumpster will be allowed to be counted even though the deadline for ballot turn in or mail postage date was Monday.

Officials said over the weekend someone broke into the box located near the Senior Center in Bend, OR and threw some 240 ballots in a nearby dumpster. Officials noticed the lock was broken and the box tampered with, and nearly empty, so a search was launched.

The ballots were found in the dumpster, and will be counted. Klamath County voters are, among other issues, voting whether to overturn the county ban on marijuana dispensaries, according to the Bend Bulletin.

Tampering, stealing or otherwise destroying ballots is a Class "C" felony in Oregon.
