That huge 20-vehicle crash last weekend that closed I-84 near Pendleton for hours has claimed it's first victim.

Oregon State Police and other authorities have not released much information about the drivers or those involved, due to the state of injuries and other factors involving the 9 people who were taken to a variety of area hospitals, 5 of them in serious condition.

Yaktrinews.com is now reporting the first fatality in the wreck, 58-year-old Alameda Addison of Pendleton has died, her family was notified Monday. Authorities waited until late Wednesday to release the news. The extent of her injuries was not disclosed.

Black ice, snow and poor road conditions contributed to the chain-reaction crash, but officials have not said which vehicle or vehicles started it, or how it played out exactly.

The wreck occurred between Pendleton and Ontario, OR.  The investigation continues.
