The Washington State Liquor Control Board is moving quickly to prohibit marijuana smoking in bars.

Since the legalization of recreational marijuana a number of bars and clubs in Washington state have tried to find loopholes in the law to create special club areas inside that allow smoking pot.

Legal marijuana may only be smoked in private and these owners argue they have special “members only” clubs inside their bars that fit within the new law, according to Northwest Cable News Network.

Wednesday, the board filed what is called a draft rule to expressly ban any establishment with a liquor license from allowing the use of marijuana on site. Some owners say they will fight the new law. One says he’d rather be able to monitor what’s going on inside his bar rather than worry about illegal activity outside.
