Officials did not specify what the threat was, but that it was received by phone Thursday morning, and the schools in the district were on lockdown. Wahluke is the district that serves the Mattawa area in Grant County.

The school and Grant County officials released a statement saying the school was on a 'teaching' lockdown, all doors and other entries locked. Regular class activities continued inside, Grant County Sheriff's and Mattawa police were on scene checking security and investigating. It was also posted on the district's Facebook page.

The 'teaching' lockdown also meant anyone who wished to access any school facilities would have to be cleared by law enforcement officers before being granted access.

Students were to be released at their normal times Thursday, no other details have been made available.
