Gentleman of the Road music tour is bringing Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons and more to Walla Walla this weekend. A local attorney and a couple of friends asked the city to open a marijuana retail store during the show.

Up to 30,000 people are expected to flood the downtown area.

They are not the only applicants to sell marijuana in Walla Walla, but they are the only ones ready and qualified to open a temporary store by this weekend, they said.

The manager has multiple stores in Spokane and knows how to do it right.

But the city council said no.

It's not even clear the city council is excited about Gentleman of the Road. Much of the deal was worked out in secret and details have come as a surprise to the community. As many as 40 percent of residents say they plan to leave town this weekend.
