Officials with the group that uncovered evidence that Planned Parenthood was illegally profiting by selling aborted fetal tissue last year are now saying Washington State's investigation of the group was a sham "from start to finish."

David Daleiden, of the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) says emails between a Washington State Deputy Attorney General and the University of Washington official reportedly show the AG's office didn't review many critical documents before deciding Planned Parenthood didn't commit any wrongdoing in our state.

Daleiden, by way of a Freedom of Information act, received records of emails between Deputy AG Paige Dietrich and the head of the government relations department at the UW medicine department. Daleiden and the CMP are the people who went under cover with video cameras and launched the nationwide viral expose' that reportedly showed Planned Parenthood illegally profiting from the sale of aborted fetal tissue to medical research facilities. It's against Federal law to do so.

Daleiden says the Deputy AG tells UW official Ian Goodhew that her office won't be needing any of the financial records related to the dealings between Planned Parenthood and the UW's Birth Defects Laboratory. The lab receives aborted fetal tissue for research, like many similar facilities do. But it's illegal to sell it for profit.

He says the documents mention a number of financial agreements between the two parties, and should have been thoroughly examined before the Attorney General's office quickly (too quickly, say some) said Planned Parenthood in WA state was not guilty of any profiteering.

According to the Washington Times and Deleiden:

"the emails show that the Washington state investigation into Planned Parenthood was a “sham from start to finish.”

“It was not meant to seriously inquire into what Planned Parenthood was doing, it was just meant to whitewash it."

After the national scandal broke last year, the Washington state legislature requested the Attorney General's office investigate the Washington state arm of Planned Parenthood for any potential illegal tissue sales. The AG's office concluded after a quick investigation there was none.

While UW official Goodhew admits he doesn't recall supplying any of the financial documents or information to the Attorney General, he claims there was no profit involved in the exchange between the two parties.
