Watch Martin Luther King Jr.’s ‘I Have a Dream’ Speech [VIDEO]
Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, in which we're reminded about the late speaker's quest for civil rights equality.
On August 28, 1963, King gave his landmark 'I Have a Dream' speech outside the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington. Roughly a quarter of a million people turned out to hear one of the most important and moving speeches in American history.
Since King's immortal words, however, many believe the Civil Rights movement has been hijacked by the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others, who have distorted King's message. The key phrase in his speech was to have people judged "by the content of their character." It still rings true today. It's about true equality and freedom, not entitlement.
