Soon, ballots will be arriving in mailboxes throughout Kennewick, and voters will be asked to pass a bond that, among numerous other projects, would replace Kennewick High School will a brand new structure.

The local share of the $125 million dollar bond would raise the tax rate on a typical $200,000 home by about $5 a month.

The variety of projects would start almost immediately, with a new Amistad elementary opening that year. It's already coming together. The rest of the projects would be wrapped up by 2024.

Besides replacing Kennewick High School with an all new building, it would also add 12 more classrooms and additional renovations to Kamiakin and Southridge High Schools, and build an all new Ridge View Elementary, as well as Elementary School #18 (as yet unnamed).
