The Oregon Department of Corrections reported an inmate was released by mistake.

Fortunately,  22-year-old Stephen Jamaal Reed is not facing any violence-related charges. Reed was temporarily held at the Multnomah County Jail to appear in court on charges of  possession of cocaine and delivering heroin. He was transferred to the jail from the Oregon State Penitentiary for court, but DOC officials learned from an anonymous phone call that he was released Monday, July 23.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Oregon State Police at 1-800-452-7888.   Authorities believe he could still be in the Multnomah County area, but may be trying to get as far away from Oregon as possible, potentially heading to California. He was supposed to be incarcerated until at least next June.
