Officials are still trying to find out why a young man set fire to his mothers vehicle.

27-year-old Antonio Ponce surrendered to Pasco police just hours after setting fire to the woman's SUV.

Fire crews were called to the 1000 block of West 5th around 7am Sunday morning for a report of the interior of the vehicle in flames. Hours later, Ponce showed up at Lourdes Medical Center, but authorities didn't say if he sustained any injuries in the arson. At that time he reportedly admitted he had set the fire.

He also admitted to slashing the tires.

He admitted pouring some sort of flammable liquid all over the interior of the vehicle, then torching it. He's now facing arson charges, and is in the Franklin County Jail.
