Fortunately, the the teen survived and was taken to Prosser Memorial Hospital.

No updates were immediately available on the girl's condition, her name was not released. According to the Washington State Patrol, she was eastbound on I-82 around 7pm Sunday evening, about four miles east of Prosser, when the vehicle struck a guardrail and left the road.

Officials said the teen was from Richland, and the car was totaled.

The State Patrol says fatigue was a factor, and the driver will be charged with negligent driving. However, none of the several reports about the incident answered the first question that popped up to us: what was a 14-year-old doing driving in the first place?

According to the Washington State Department of Motor Vehicles, as we know this because our son just got his license, you must be AT LEAST 15 to even apply for and possess a learner's permit. Once you complete the required driving school education, you MUST wait until you are 16 to apply and receive the actual license.

So, we're left wondering, why was she driving in the first place? Was it with or without permission of adults?
