Worker Electrocuted at HGTV Dream Home in Florida

The home was chosen as part of the network's Dream Home Giveaway in Merrit Island, Florida.

2015 is the 20th anniversary of the giveaway on Home and Garden TV.  According to athorities in this community, located about 55 miles from Orlando, the man was working on a boat dock on the home's property when he was apparently electrocuted.

Emergency crews were called to a report of an unresponsive person floating in the Indian River. Despite rescue efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The home was announced as part of the network's big giveaway, a winner was scheduled to be announced later this year, who would receive ownership of the home.

According to various news sources, including the Associate Press, inquiries to the network so far have gone unanswered. Authorities did not say if any other electrical issues were discovered in the home's renovation and remodeling project.
