From the picture supplied by the Oregon State Patrol, it's easy to see there is little left of the minivan, after it collided head-on with a semi last night on I-84 just West of Boardman.

According to Oregon State Patrol troopers, the minivan was traveling west bound in the eastbound lanes. OSP received the call around 7:40pm that the van, traveling at an estimated speed of 55 to 60 miles per hour, slammed head-on into the front of a semi truck.

The collision caused the van to fly and tumble, coming to a rest on top of the centerline barrier dividing the interstate. The semi driver, identified as 24-year-old Santos Calunga of California, received only minor injuries and was treated at the scene. However, he did escape serious injury as the semi exploded in flames shortly after the collision. Calunga was able to escape the cab, but the truck came to a rest blocking both lanes of travel.

The identity of the minivan driver has not been released pending notification of family. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation continues. Officials are trying to figure out why he was driving on the wrong side of the interstate. Below is approximately where the collision occurred between Arlington and Boardman.
