For Ryan and Genipher Messer of Yakima, yearly budgeting for Halloween candy is actually a thing.

When they moved in to their neighborhood at 25th and Yakima avenues in 2004, they were warned about the high volume of trick-or-treaters each year and should expect around 300 kids to knock on their door. According to Ryan, it was really closer to 500-600. And it's grown every year since!

Last night, the Messers counted more than 2,300 costumed kiddos and handed out over 2,700 individual pieces of candy! They finally ran out and had to shut off their porch light at around 8:20 p.m.
