Some great youth football games will be taking place this weekend at Lampson Stadium in Kennewick.

Saturday and Sunday, the Tri-City Elite Youth Football team will be playing games vs. other visiting teams, starting at 4:30pm Saturday and noon Sunday. It's the 3rd Annual Columbia Bowl for junior high football players.

The Elite are a team made up of middle-school aged players (7th and 8th grades),  applying the same concept of a select baseball or softball team to football. It's a concept that's been growing quite a bit of the last several years, in the Pacific Northwest and around the nation.

Saturday, the Elite will be playing the Washington Warriors with a 4:30 kickoff,  Sunday they will take on the IYFL team with a 12:30 kickoff.

Gates will open an hour prior to kickoff.  Admission Saturday is $3, $2 for Sunday.  There will also be raffle drawings to win a smoker, a 46-inch TV and other prizes.  Admission and raffle fees go to help support the Elite program from this non-profit event.

Each year, the Elite hold tryouts, and ALL players who will be entering the 8th grade are encouraged to find out more by visiting their website.
