Oregon State Police said a 47-year old man died Saturday while trying to pass a commercial vehicle on Interstate 84 East of the Dalles.

Shortly before 11:20am,  a 1994 Oldsmobile with three people onboard was Westbound approximately 30 miles from the Dalles when the driver attempted to pass a large truck. The car struck the guardrail several times before finally coming to a stop.

 A 70- year old woman in the front passenger seat and a 16-year old boy in the back seat were injured.  The woman was flown by Life Flight chopper to Legacy Emmanual Medical Center in Portland in serious condition.  The boy was treated at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles with minor injuries.

  Authorities have not released any identities pending notification of relatives.  OSP does not yet know what caused the vehicle to lose control and crash.

 The OSP said NONE of the passengers were wearing their seatbelts.
