59-Year-Old Drug Suspect Hides From Deputies in Closet

Not the typical drug related suspect, but she put up somewhat of a fight.

The Benton County Gang Unit along with West Richland police had a standoff Thursday with this woman, 59-year-old Mary Burkhead.  She was located at a residence in West Richland, was wanted for failure to show up for a sentencing hearing on charges of delivery of a controlled substance.

Initially, she refused to exit and a standoff occurred for some time before a search warrant was issued and she was discovered hiding in a closet. She is now in the Benton County jail.
