Bike Rider Dies After Being Hit by Semi Truck In Hermiston
Authorities are hoping area video surveillance footage will help them figure out what happened. But a 55-year-old man is dead after a collision with a semi-truck at Highway 395 and Elm Streets Monday night.
According to Police Chief Jason Edmiston, around 8:19 pm the man was riding near the area. The semi truck turned onto Elm from Highway 395 near the McDonalds Restaurant, striking the rider.
The truck continued to head eastbound on Highway 207, and was finally stopped on Highway 730 near the Washington border. Officials did not speculate, but it appears perhaps the driver didn't even know he hit the cyclist.
Officials say accident reconstruction is under way, the victim has not yet been identified or his identity released. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. More information expected soon.
