Walla Walla police and County Sheriff's spent much of Friday morning pursuing a burglary and auto theft suspect, who was captured and the car recovered.

Around 7:33am officers got a call about a break in in the 700 block of School Ave. in Walla Walla. Officers were informed the suspect fled, but drove off in a stolen car belonging to the burglary victim.

After a pursuit, the car was found abandoned and the suspect had run on foot near South Wilbur and Reser Road. Due to their proximity to Walla Walla High School and Prospect School, they were briefly locked down.

The K-9 unit was able to track and locate 25-year-old Brandin Rencken, who was taken into custody facing multiple burglary and auto theft charges. Police say the continuing investigation may result in additional charges as well.
