Here are the details from the Kennewick Police Department's Press Release:

On Friday, December 25th at approximately 1:54 AM, Kennewick Police Officers were dispatched to a business alarm located at JC Penney inside the Columbia Center Mall at 1321 N. Columbia Center Blvd.

Officers arrived a short time later and determined that the east doors to the location had been damaged and it was believed that the suspect(s) may have successfully made entry into the building.

Kennewick Police K-9 Ivan responded to the scene to assist officers in safely clearing the building.

Deputies from the Benton County Sheriffs Office and Richland PD Officers also assisted in searching and containing the building. No suspects were located during the search, however, evidence suggests that the suspect(s) did make entry into the
store, but left prior to police arrival.

This is an ongoing investigation and no other information is available at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call non-emergency dispatch at 509-628-0333.

KPD is still on the search for this Grinch or Grinches and no word yet on if anything was taken during the attempted robbery. Please reach out to KPD if you know anything and let's nab the Christmas Crooks.
