Comparing 9/11 Hijacking To 1/6 Break In? You Really Missed The Mark!
According to the Yakima Herald-Republic (YHR) the President says his patience is "running thin." So too is mine and same for thousands, hell, millions of us.
The President is of course talking about 80-million Americans exercising their rights as free people to NOT get the Covid Vaccine if they choose not to. I'm referring to the pontificating that never ends as it pertains to the motivations and aftermath of the people who broke into the capitol on January 6th.
Another Hand Wringing Hypocrite
Lynn Schmitt, an opinion writer from the St.Louis Dispatch, wrote a piece today (9/10/21) in the YHR titled "Hijackers failed, insurrectionists didn't". Her premise is that the hijackers of Flight 93 were taken down in a field near Shanksville, PA by the 40 brave passengers and crew before they could reach the Capitol or White House. She believes that because they didn't reach the "symbolic heart of the nation" they failed. On the other hand, because the "insurrectionists" got inside the Capitol they succeeded in their attack on democracy.
Swirl that around in your mind a moment. Your fellow Americans - compared to murderous terrorists intent on destroying America and Americans. I would like to offer up a different perspective that Ms. Schmitt and countless other liberals with a microphone or platform on which to speak could never reach or consider on their own.
Let's Roll With an Analogy
She writes that the plane was hijacked, those with evil intent took control. On that, we agree. But what if, to millions of Americans, what if the plane was America, and what if it was a cabal with a "liberal-progressive-leftist-socialist-communist- "oriented philosophy and agenda that had hijacked the country?
The hijackers wanted to crash the plane into the White House or Capitol crushing America's "symbolic structures" hoping to demoralize and end America. On that, we also agree. But what if the American hijackers -we'll cal them America's Al Queda to maintain the analogy - what if they wanted to crash our systems and the structure of the nation too, for their own purposes? Think Cloward & Piven, Think Saul Alinsky and Rules for Radicals, think "pass the bill to be able to read the bill", think "if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor," think of sicking the IRS on patriotic and religious organizations, think "bitter clingers" and "baskets of deplorables" and so much much more.
Schmitt continues "Brave passengers and crew who were pushed to the back of the plane by hijackers decided to try to fight back to regain control of their airplane." Courageous Americans all. They saw the impending disaster and took desperate measures to try to stop it. In the eyes of the nation, they were all heroes! Their story is called "a story of hope, courage, and unity....When confronted with the urgency of their situation..they chose to act...and fight back against terrorism."
Don't Equate Hate With Tough Love
But what if, after more than a decade of watching their plane/their country being hijacked, what if half of the Country decided to fight back against a dangerous philosophical ideology protected and promoted by lying media and controlling big tech? What if these patriotic heretics went so far as to elect not a swamp-based politician, but a businessman with an entirely different approach that, for a while, put the plane back on course? With that affront to the liberal master plan, America's Al Queda doubled down on their efforts to take out the pilot and crash the country.
On January 6th some of those at the back of the plane of state, sensing the urgency of the situation, rushed the capitol/cabin. Lynn Schmitt writes that they got in and struck a blow damaging our democracy. I submit that, like Bin Laden's suicide pilots, they failed.
Yes, some went too far in their zeal. Too much violence and wanton, senseless destruction. Unlike Bid Laden's team, which was planned, organized, and rehearsed, most of the "tip of the spear" of Americans who broke in were the angry, undisciplined, opportunistic far right edge infused with more patriotism than planning, more interested in demonstrating their right to reclaim "the people's house" and to send a message of reminder that the government is supposed to be "by, of, and for the PEOPLE."
They Failed Too
They went too far, The disrespect they received for years by the left and their protectors erased their filters and released their restraint and there was anger and payback in spades. Too many people were hurt and too many demonstrations of frustration were thus taken as murderous threats -and worst of all, it gave the American Al Queda the opportunity to paint ALL conservatives with the most extreme brush. All conservatives are now portrayed as the greatest existential threat to America, we are all white supremacists, racists, and more.
A poll taken 11 days after the break-in at the capitol showed, "A majority of Americans believe other Americans and domestic enemies pose the greatest threat to democracy and their way of life, according to a CBS/YouGov poll conducted a week after the U.S. Capitol was attacked by a mob loyal to the outgoing U.S. president."
But here's the thing about polls. They may represent a sliver of a moment in time but they measure feelings that can change over time. And in some cases, in very little time - Case in point, the same article featuring the CBS/YouGov poll also recorded, "nearly 60% of respondents said they were optimistic about President-elect Joe Biden taking over in the White House."
Current polling puts Biden's disapproval rate at 52%. Sometimes even the American Al Queda can't get out of its own way.
Back to the analogy.
Angry, exuberant Americans believed this was their "Boston Tea Party" moment and they took it. They weren't trying to hunt and kill King George but they sure as hell were trying to send him a message. Would we call them heroes and of their pushback on January 6th, would we speak of hope and unity? No. Democrat politicians and strategists, liberal media, and the all-powerful big tech would hold them in contempt and in the same degree of disgust and disregard as the 9-11 hijackers themselves.
They wouldn't be, they couldn't be seen as trying to save the "American plane" because those in control and so telling the story, are all part of the American Al Queda of this story. Lynn Schmitt included.
We'll conclude with this.
Ms. Schmitt writes, "some of the desecration took place under the very rotunda that calls Americans to unity." How shocked was she! Damn Straight. The hijackers knew the value of symbolism and that's why they were headed to the Capitol. The protesters who broke into the Capitol were already there and ready to send the message that unity did not exist. I wish they wouldn't have done it. I do believe there should be proper prosecutions and reasonable punishment. But I can sure as hell understand why they did do it and I don't believe we'll make any real progress until both sides can articulate why.
This is a critical national debate and good debaters know "It is important to look at topics from multiple perspectives so that we are able to see the whole picture, which better enables us to find the root cause of the problem and discover a solution that takes the needs and feelings of everyone involved into consideration."
I am just sick of people who think nothing of trashing the constitution, who play partisan games with the nation's future, who so disrespect the average American taxpayer/citizen, and who show no signs of patriotism or love of Country unless the TV cameras are on. I'm tired of them wrapping themselves in the outrage of "how dare they make an attack on our beloved Capitol, the symbol of our freedom." Give me a break. And let's start it tomorrow on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. One ounce of humility, one speck of respect...if you have it in you progressive left, do us all a favor and show it tomorrow...show it by being nowhere to be seen. I'm afraid this isn't over and while you look to fight us, the Taliban is seen as "professional" and they called the shots on the botched evacuation?? C'mon man. They are the enemy, not us.
