Cops Believe Car Fire is Arson

An SUV or Sport Utility wagon was badly damaged, possibly totaled from what police suspect is arson.

Just before midnight Sunday night, police and fire crews responded to the Kamiakin Apartments on North Metaline, just east of Volland, for a report of a vehicle engulfed in flames in the parking lot.

Witnesses told police they thought they saw a man break the driver's side front window and throw something inside. Shortly afterwards, the flames exploded and destroyed the interior. The make and model was not revealed, but police are asking anyone else who may have information to call (509)-628-0333. All leads can be confidential.

Police did not say if they recovered the remains of any kind of incendiary device, the the investigation continues.
