Kennewick councilman Don Britain received a Certificate of Municipal Leadership (CML) from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC). To achieve this certification Councilman Britain attended over 30 hours of training meetings.

The Association of Washington Cities offers training in law operations, planning for the future, securing and managing funds, and fostering community and staff relationships. To earn a Certificate of Municipal Leadership an official must attend a  variety of AWC sponsored municipal workshops. The AWC is a private, non-profit, non-partisan corporation that represents Washington’s cities and towns before the state legislature, the state executive branch, and with regulatory agencies.

Mr. Britain was elected to the City Council in January of 2010. He is a lifelong Kennewick resident who is interested in bringing family wage jobs and regional recreational opportunities to Kennewick, as well as well as advancing economic development.

Councilman Britain currently serves on the Tri-Cities Regional Public Facilities District Board of directors, the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership board of directors, City of Kennewick Economic Development Committee, City of Kennewick Interview Committee, Hanford Area Economic Investment Fund Committee, Joint City of Kennewick and City of Richland Committee, and is an alternate on the Tri City Area Chamber of Commerce.
