Domestic Violence Suspect Shot by Officer Released From Hospital
A man shot in the shoulder by a Benton County deputy has been released from TRIOS Health Center in Kennewick, but not clear if he's been booked in the Benton County Jail.
56-year-old Robert Bevel was discharged Sunday afternoon. He had been shot in the shoulder Saturday around 6pm Saturday evening, near 26th. and Olympia. Officers had responded to a domestic violence call at the residence. Bevel reportedly refused to give up peacefully, despite the efforts of a crisis negotiator.
At one point he walked from his trailer carrying a gun, at which point Deputy Scott Surplus shot him once in the shoulder. He dropped the weapon and was taken into custody. Bevel is facing second-degree domestic violence charges, and according to authorities, they've been called to his residence multiple times on domestic violence issues in the last two days prior to this incident.
