DUI Juvenile Teen Smashes Hydrant, Car, Just Misses Building
Kennewick Police continue to investigate a late-night crash from Saturday involving a suspected teen DUI driver.
Police were called to the 100 block of Columbia Drive and found this car up against a pole, after having hit a guardrail, fire hydrant, a parked car.
The driver just missed a building.
Police said the teen was not hurt, but after on-site evaluation Police said it was very likely they were under the influence while behind the wheel.
The teen was taken to an area hospital for a blood draw to check for additional inebriants besides alcohol.
Police said after the evaluation the teen was booked into the Benton County Juvenile Center, they were also driving on a suspended license. No other information about the youth was released.
Police said they rely on blood draws if they 1) suspect other intoxicants besides alcohol, 2) the subject refuses a breathalyzer test, 3) there's evidence the person might be under the influence of drugs, narcotics, or marijuana.
