Finley Schools to Run Levy in February, Will Help Underfunded Programs
By a unanimous vote the Finley School Board will be placing a two-year maintenance and operations (M&O) levy on the February 11th 2014 ballot.
School districts run such levies to help support programs that are under-funded or not supported by the state. According to the district:
"If approved by the voters, levy funds will be used to support essential programs, staff and operating expenses that are unfunded or under-funded by state and federal revenue.
The Finley School Board discussed levy figures and options during their regular board meeting at 7 PM on Monday, November 18. The Board approved a levy rate of $4.15 per $1,000 of assessed value in 2015, and $4.18 in 2016. The total levy request amount will total $1,800,000 in 2015 and $1,850,000 in 2016. The proposed levy will replace the current levy voters approved during the last election in February 2012. "
Among the programs the levy will pay for include:
