Fire Crews May Have 243 Blaze ‘Trapped’ in Canyon Area
According to a report as of 10am Wednesday, some progress has been made on what's being called the Highway 243 fire in Grant County.
Mandatory evacuations were given Tuesday for the Smyrna area, a small unincorporated group of homes four miles south of Royal City.
Tony Gilmer, the Incident Commander, reported the fire has turned Eastward, towards Lower Crab Creek Canyon, and is approaching Red Rock Road.
There is no word yet on when any kind of containment might occur. More updates are expected soon.
