Monday afternoon fire crews were called to the Copper Ridge Apartments in the 5500 block of West Hildebrand near Southridge High School, after smoke was seen coming from the third floor.

Fire crews said apartment staff tried to suppress the fire til crews arrived, the fire apparently started in an outdoor balcony storage room.  Several units, including the one directly involved, were evacuated, but no one was hurt.

Fire crews initially said the cause does not appear to be suspicious, the investigation continues.
