Although the fire has closed Interstate 82 near the junction with I-84, it poses no threat to any chemical weapons, because they're no longer stored at the site. Interstate was still closed as of 1:30pm Monday  near Washington border due to smoke.

Hermiston fire officials say the interstate was closed largely due to smoke from a brush fire burning near the former Chemical Weapons Depot.

Chemicals are no longer stored there as they have been incinerated in the plant, which was shut down after all the weapons were destroyed.

No word on the size or cause of the fire, or when highway will re open.
