The Fire District 3 board is sending a lift lid to voters this fall.

A lift lid is essentially expanding a previously passed levy, to raise additional funding for needed operations.

Franklin County Fire District 3, which covers essentially the rest of the county outside the City of Pasco, began offering it's own EMS (Emergency Medical Services) program earlier this year.  They had previously sub-contracted with Pasco, but expenses ended that program.

The district says the bulk of it's calls are medically-related, and in order to continue the EMS program, additional funding is needed.  The 32-cent lid lift will enable ambulance service in the county to continue, otherwise, the service will end in February of next year.

Franklin County Fire District 3 has also seen at least a 10% increase in the number of EMS calls over the last five years.   The lid lift will appear on the General Election ballot in November.
