Guy Fieri is a stand-up guy.

I don't mean comedy, even though he can be funny. A lot of people say "don't meet your heroes," meaning that the people society places on a pedestal for the rest of us to idolize will often disappoint us by being jerks. Guy Fieri is one of the good ones.

Guy Fieri has visited Tri-Cities on numerous occasions.

A couple of my favorite local joints have been on Guy's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, including Vinny's Bakery, Porter's, and Frost Me Sweet. I've introduced newer co-workers to the Cuban sandwich at Vinny's, and everyone has been raving up and down about it being the best sandwich they've ever had. I took my friend to Porter's before we hit the movies, and it was just as good as last time.

Everyone I've asked has said Guy Fieri was always nice and easy to talk to, even when the cameras were off.

Guy Fieri works with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Fieri's sister had childhood cancer, she beat it, but she died from melanoma as an adult. That experience impacted Guy, making him want to help people who are fighting cancer. Whenever Guy films an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, he invites a child and their entire family from Make-A-Wish to the taping. His philanthropic efforts have earned him the Chris Greicius Award from Make-A-Wish, which he says is the "greatest reward I've ever received." It's entirely possible that Guy has had a number of kids from Make-A-Wish at tapings of Tri-Cities restaurants! Just another reason why Guy is the man!
