Mom & Girlfriend Arrested in Death of Daughter Found in OR Forest
Oregon State Police have identified the body of a young girl discovered in a duffel bag. The deceased girl was found December 10, 2020 at a rest area on the Oregon Coast. It's estimated the remains were there for 30 to 60 days.
OSP say Hayley Mae Coblentz was 9-years old at the time of her death. Haley was born in Colorado and lived with her mother and mother's girlfriend in several different locations in the Pacific Northwest.
Haley was not considered a missing person. With assistance from several agencies including the FBI, investigators located Haley's mother, 28-year old Shawna Browning and her girlfriend 33-year old Lauren Harrison in Detroit, Michigan. The women were arrested Tuesday after being served a search warrant on their vehicle and hotel room.
Browning and Harrison are charged with aggravated murder and are booked at Michigan's Wayne County Jail without bail.
According to reports, the women were homeless and made money by panhandling. Browning was estranged from her family in Colorado. Family members say they don't know who Hayley's father is and that she was given the last name of Browning's girlfriend at the time.
Hayley Mae Coblentz was found in a duffel bag along the banks of the Salmon River in Lincoln County on December 10, 2020.
Browning and Harrison were arrested Tuesday. It could take up to 60 days to get the women back to Oregon to face charges.
